Gadgets are the joy of many people’s lives. But, unfortunately, Santa isn’t always generous, and he doesn’t just deliver them to your doorbell on his sleigh.
But never mind. At least we now have an entire year in front of us to get all the things we didn’t receive in this year’s holiday season.
So, what should we be buying in the January sales?
Smart Coffee Maker
The top of this list undoubtedly has to be a smart coffee maker. These are great for those early mornings when you’re in a rush and you need to be out of the house quickly.
Essentially, a smart home coffee maker is what it sounds like. It’s a device that will make your coffee for you (if you ask nicely!)
Most of these work through apps. You can grab your phone from your bedside table, open the app, put on a coffee, and then get dressed and go downstairs to find it waiting for you. However, you can also get some that are voice-activated, and work well in conjunction with Amazon Alexa.
Robot Vacuum And Mop
Robot vacuums are, of course, old news. But those with mops that are interchangeable are relatively new and quite exciting. With these, you can vacuum the carpets and clean your tiles without having to switch through equipment or even lift a finger yourself. Now that’s automation!
Advanced robot vacuums have AIs in them that can make their way around your home and remember where they’ve been. They can also understand specific instructions, like “don’t go in the kitchen” or “don’t go under the Christmas tree.”
Wi-Fi Mesh Systems
Wi-Fi mesh systems are another hot gadget you wish Santa had brought you this year (but sadly didn’t). These help you put high-speed internet all over your home, allowing you to get way more done.
No, these aren’t particularly handy in smaller homes with compact gardens. But if you live in anything larger than, say, 1,500 square feet, then meshes are indispensable.
Installing mesh systems for Wi-Fi can be time-consuming and challenging. However, it is also essential in many contexts, especially if you can’t get an internet connection in the kids’ bedrooms but want to watch cartoons. Instead of getting them to go downstairs where the signal is strong, they can stay in their rooms and enjoy the same high fidelity you get in the lounge.
Indoor Garden System
An indoor garden system is another high-tech device Santa probably didn’t bring you this year. However, these are amazing if you’re the sort of person who loves growing greens or sprouting grains.
Indoor gardens are particularly popular among people wanting to produce vast quantities of high-value health foods on their properties at low prices. Getting things like broccoli sprouts and oyster mushrooms from the store is expensive. But with grow-your-own kits, all of this stuff is considerably cheaper. Plus, you can harvest it fresh and add it to your meals whenever you want instead of having to go to the store every five minutes to re-stock.
Electric Garden Trimmers
Another thing that was probably on your Santa wish list was a full range of electric garden equipment. These devices are becoming more popular as battery technology continues to advance.
For example, you can get a grass trimmer that charges overnight and then goes out in the morning to cut back the lawn. You can also get hand-held devices that do something similar, allowing you to avoid having to plug things in at the mains and chew things up.
Electric garden trimmers also come in various shapes and sizes. Some really are hand-held and fit in the palm comfortably, while others are much longer for getting to the top of hedges.
Smart Mirrors
What about smart mirrors? These are popular because they double as screens. When you switch them off, they look like mirrors, but when you turn them on, they are more like TVs or tablet devices.
Smart mirrors are a lot of fun because they make the start of your day much more efficient. You can be cleaning your teeth, shaving, or putting on deodorant and using home assistants to tell your smart mirror what to display, including the weather, travel instructions, and things like fitness routines. What’s amazing about these devices is just how convincing they are. Modern smart mirrors look like the real thing, except for the faint glow of LED pixels in the background, ready to show you whatever you want.
Of course, smart mirrors are best for multi-taskers. You won’t get on with them well if you’re the sort of person who likes to do one thing at a time!
Portable Home Theatre
A portable home theatre is another thing Santa might not have brought you this year. But don’t worry, these devices are coming down in price and allowing more people to experience going to the cinema at home.
Modern versions of these are compact and high-fidelity. Most contain a projector and reel for the light to fall on and create the image.
Portable home theaters are, obviously, great for movies. But they are also good for other things, too, like presentations or even family quizzes. Because of this, they tend to be more versatile than conventional TVs, which is something that makes them endlessly popular.
Air Quality Monitor
Are you a health freak? If so, you’ll be missing the fact that Santa didn’t bring you an air quality filter with a monitor. These devices are fun because they tell you the particulate matter in the air and what you need to do to get rid of it.
Many people struggle with allergens and pollution in their homes, especially in crowded cities. But with advanced air scrubbers and particle removers, it is now possible to clean up interior air and ensure that it never harms you again.
So there you have it: some of the devices and gadgets you wish Santa had brought you this year. Which of these will go you out and buy in the sales?
