The Asus Cerberus Mech RGB Keyboard is one of ASUS’ latest peripheral offerings. Featuring Kaihua RGB switches which come in 4 flavours, red, brown, black and blue the Cerberus is looking to cater to as many gamers as possible. It comes in at around £113 here in the UK and has some other features gamers will love aside from the mechanical RGB switches. It features 100% Anti-ghosting n-key rollover meaning all keystrokes will be registered, even if they are hit at the same time. Another great feature is the gaming mode, enabling this will disable the windows keys meaning if you hit it by accident in the middle of a game, you won’t have to worry about your game being minimized.
Design wise, the keyboard features a rubberized coating around the outside which does look amazing but does catch a bit of dust over time. Ther Cerberus Mech RGB is also durable and has a fairly good amount of weight to it so you won’t have to worry about it being broken easily. Even things like the braided USB cable helps keep this keyboard looking slick and stylish and really shows the quality ASUS puts into its products. The backlighting is controlled right from the keyboard itself using the FN keys with and has a few presets ready to go.
The only real negative we had with the Cerberus Mech RGB is the lack of software. While the functions and settings can all be changed from the keyboard using a combination of the FN keys, there is no getting around the fact that a nice bit of software is always helpful. Having a bit of software also may have allowed for a bit more customization but probably would have resulted in a bit higher price.
If you are looking for a decent Mechanical Keyboard that even has RGB lighting and won’t completely break the bank, the Cerberus Mech RGB may be the one for you. Available from loads of retailers, it comes in multiple switch colours as mentioned and does definitely look the business! Many thanks to ASUS for sending this in for review and we can’t wait to see what they send our way next!
