Good audio quality is more important than ever. I mean, just look at those who create video content online, they are more concerned about the audio sounding good than they are about the video looking good most of the time. While it may sound silly, it has to do with the fact that you can listen to the video without watching it. Audio is king and EDIFIER is working hard to make sure we can have good audio at an affordable price with the R1280DB Powerful Bookshelf Speakers.
The Edifier R1280DB bookshelf speakers offer an impressive combination of quality sound, versatile connectivity, and stylish design. With 42 watts of total power output, they deliver room-filling sound through a pair of 4-inch mid-range/bass drivers and 0.5-inch tweeters, producing rich lows and crisp highs. The wooden enclosure minimizes acoustic resonance, enhancing audio clarity.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Optical, Coaxial, and Dual RCA inputs, making these speakers suitable for various devices. The side panel features bass, treble, and volume controls, and a wireless remote allows for easy adjustments. These features, along with the elegant design, make the R1280DB a top choice for both casual listeners and audiophiles.

R1280DB Specifications
Packaging and Accessories
The front of the box has an image of the speakers and the included remote. It also lets us know that the R1280DB comes with an included fiber optic cable and features Bluetooth support.
Opening the box up and everything is packed well. You are instantly met with a piece of styrofoam that keeps everything protected from being damaged during transit.
The speakers are also individually wrapped to ensure they don’t get any further damage such as scratches or blemishes.
Taking everything out of the box we have the R1280DB Bookshelf Speakers, an RCA to 3.5mm cable, an RCA to RCA cable, a Fiber Optic Cable, a speaker wire (to connect the speakers), and a remote.
Closer Look
On the side panel for one of the speakers, we have the Bass, treble, and master volume controls. You can also use the volume control to switch between the different input modes with ease. Of course, the remote may be the easier option but it is nice to see it on the speakers as well.
On the back, one speaker has all the input connectors and a power switch while the other just has the inputs to connect it to the other speaker.
The R1280DB features four different input modes which are Bluetooth, Optical, Coaxial, and Dual RCA inputs. This is going to allow for multiple devices to be connected at the same time. You can then switch inputs but a click of the button on the remote so you can always enjoy quality sound.
Performance
It has been some time since I have used a proper pair of bookshelf speakers and boy was I impressed. Coming from a pair of gaming speakers, these completely blew me away.
The first thing I did was load up some good old 90s hip-hop and see what these speakers were made of. I like my music with a bit of bass and the R1280DB speakers did not disappoint. The bass is nice and deep while the highs are still very clear, offering a great balance of sound.
Listening to some current music from the likes of YouTube and I can still hear the better quality in these than I could from my old gaming speakers. I am by no means a proper audiophile as you can likely tell at this point, but these speakers make me want to listen to more music and just enjoy the rich sound they offer.
When it comes to television and movies, they don’t disappoint there either. They can produce more than enough sound to fill a room and will keep you immersed in whatever you are watching. The range of sound they offer from the lows to the highs is really quite impressive.

On the design front, they come in multiple colors including, white, black, and even a wood grain making sure that they can match your aesthetical taste. Those looking for a more edgy look can take the front covers off the speakers by simply pulling with a bit of force, revealing the drivers in all their glory.
When it comes to connectivity, they are not short on the options they offer. From Bluetooth to RCA, Optical, and Coaxial, they offer a bit of everything. What’s even better is the fact you can connect up to four devices at once and switch between them with a click of a button, making the transition seamless.
Using these speakers on my computer has impressed me and makes me wonder why I haven’t made the switch from gaming to proper audio-quality speakers soon.
