Wavo Pod Closer Look

Getting everything out of the box and we have the Wavo POD mic with a pop filter. There are also 2x USB cables, 1x USB-C to USB-A, and 1x USB-C to USB-C. I always recommend using USB-C where you can but it is nice that Joby has realized that not everyone will have USB-C so they have included a USB-A cable as well.

The pop filter is easy enough to take off should you want to. Of course, I like to game a lot which means I can be very loud and shout from time to time so the pop filter is a nice addition for me.

The top of the mic has a nice hard casing to it, but as you can see there is still plenty of room for your voice to pass through. For me, this gives it the old assembly hall mic look. I remember the mics in my school had a similar style to them and from what I can remember, it was mostly to help make sure they didn’t break if dropped.

The buttons on the front are easy to use a nicely labeled. Simply push the top button to mute the mic (red LED) or turn it on (blue LED). The LED also indicates what setting you are currently on. If the LED is blue, you can turn the knob to change the volume in your headphones. Holding the button in until it turns purple allows you to change the gain similarly. You can also change the pattern between directional and omnidirectional by pushing the below button and there are LED indicators to let you know which mode is currently selected.

Both sides of the mic have an input for Joby Link accessories and you can also adjust the tilt on the mic to your desired level.

On the bottom, we have the USB-C and 3.5mm inputs. There is also a little plug you can unscrew you can use the mic with boom arms and other mounting accessories.

Joby Wavo Boom Arm

The Wavo Boom Arm is a great way to mount your mic. Unfortunately, my desk doesn’t allow me to use it, but for those who can, this will allow you to move the mic a lot more freely. The base for the mount also has an included cup holder and headset holder which is a nice little addition.

Testing

The below two videos were shot in TikTok studio on my PC and uploaded directly to TikTok with no edits to the original sound. This likely isn’t the best test for the mic but you will be able to hear the quality it offers. In the future, we will look into more ways to update our mic testing capabilities.

Final Thoughts

The Wavo POD mic from Joby is a great mic to get you started on your podcasting or streaming journey. Whether you are just looking to record yourself talking, or doing some game streaming, it offers superb quality, especially for the price. The Wavo Boom Arm is also worthy upgrade if you have limited desk space or need to be able to move the mic about a bit more freely.

Being a plug-and-play mic, the Wavo POD uses a USB-C interface and while this may not allow for as good quality as an XLR mic has to offer, it’s still good nonetheless. Utilizing the directional and omnidirectional capabilities will let you use the Wavo POD on your own, or on a table with others around you. The easy-to-use button to change between the two modes will have you switch make and forth between the two in a matter of seconds.

The price is what really sells the Wavo POD. The Wavo POD is currently coming in at just shy of £70, here in the UK both on Amazon and the official Joby website. However, the real deal seems to be over in America at the time of review on Amazon US where you can get the Wavo POD for a silly $29! While it is currently 40% off in the US, this is an absolute steal and is worth picking up, even if you don’t quite need it just yet. For this price, it would also make a great backup mic just to have around just in case.

I have been using the Wavo POD for a few weeks now and it has become my daily mic. It offers good-quality audio and is easy to use and the USB connectivity means I can use it on both my laptop and PC as needed.
