Intel has unveiled its new AI chips, the Core Ultra 200H and Core Ultra 200HX families, during CES 2025. These chips are designed to deliver strong performance, especially for gaming laptops and advanced computing tasks.
The Core Ultra 200H chips are built for slim and powerful laptops, often called “performance thin and light” notebooks. The most advanced model in this family, the Core Ultra 9 285H, features 16 cores, including six for heavy tasks, eight for lighter ones, and two for saving power. It can reach speeds of up to 5.4GHz and includes 8 Intel Arc GPU cores, which are enough to handle smaller games effectively.
For users who need more power, the Core Ultra 200HX chips are aimed at gaming laptops and other demanding tasks. The top model, Core Ultra 9 285HX, comes with 24 cores, including eight for top performance and 16 for efficient multitasking. It reaches a maximum speed of 5.5GHz. While it has only 4 Intel GPU cores, it is designed to work with discrete graphics cards from NVIDIA or AMD for better gaming performance.
Intel has announced that laptops with these new chips will be available in the first quarter of this year. During the same period, desktops featuring the Core Ultra 200S chips are also expected to begin shipping.
This launch helps Intel remain competitive at CES 2025, especially as other companies like AMD are likely to reveal their own advancements. The introduction of these chips highlights Intel‘s focus on providing more power for gaming and advanced computing while incorporating AI features into their processors.
