Acer was the first manufacturer to launch a ChromeOS tablet, the 2018 Acer Chromebook Tab 10. While it continues to produce new Chromebooks each year, they are mostly traditional laptops, not tablets, although some have a convertible design. Today, it announced a new ChromeOS tablet, the Acer Chromebook Tab 311, designed for classroom use.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 311 features a 10.95-inch display with a 1920×1080 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and fairly thick bezels. The tablet is powered by MediaTek’s Kompanio 520 processor, which was announced in 2022 but didn’t appear in Chromebooks until 2023. The tablet will be available with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It also has a MicroSD card slot that allows users to add up to 2TB of additional storage.

Acer has added a 2MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera with autofocus. The Acer Chromebook Tab 311 comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and optional LTE. As expected, it supports a USI 2.0 stylus, but this is optional. However, a keyboard case is included in the box so that you can use it as a laptop. There is also an optional folio case with a kickstand that can be adjusted to different angles.

Acer says the Chromebook Tab 311 meets the MIL-STD 810H military durability standard but doesn’t specify whether it has an IP rating. The device packs an 8,000mAh battery that should provide up to 10 hours of use. It charges via a USB-C port and has an audio jack.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 311 will be available next quarter for $329 in North America, €329 in Europe, and AU$349 in Australia. It will face stiff competition from Lenovo, which has become the gold standard for ChromeOS tablets with its Chromebook Duet line.
