Closer Look: Build & Design

The Wanbo X5 Pro stands out with its luxurious and modern design, offering both style and practicality. It has a compact body measuring 252 × 246 × 115 mm and weighs 2.68 kg (5.94 lbs), making it lightweight and portable. The projector is built with high-quality plastic and comes in an elegant dark blue colour.

The front panel houses the lens, an IR receiver, and a camera, all placed neatly within the piano black section. The front panel is a visual treat, featuring a mix of three colours a piano black finish as the main area, a golden trim at the bottom with “Home Theatre Projector Designed by Wanbo” written on it, and a dark blue edge that blends seamlessly with the body. A golden line runs around the piano black section, adding a fantastic premium touch. The Wanbo branding appears near the focus camera sensor in golden fonts, enhancing its elegance, while the area around the lens highlights the FHD (1920×1080) resolution.

The top side of the Wanbo X5 Pro has a clean and seamless look, finished in dark blue with a metallic appearance that adds to its premium feel. There are no physical buttons, maintaining a sleek and minimalistic design.

PXL 20250225 054444224

On the right side, the projector houses dual 5W DSP-boosted speakers, which are placed behind a mesh grill design integrated into the body. This design not only enhances the projector’s aesthetics but also helps in clear and immersive sound projection.

The bottom side of the Wanbo X5 Pro has rubber feet on the corners, which can be removed for ceiling mounting. However, the ground clearance on these feet is limited.

A bracket is included, allowing the projector to be slightly raised for a better viewing angle. In the middle, there is a stand mounting hole, making it easy to set up on a tripod or ceiling mount. With both stand and ceiling mounting options, Wanbo has ensured maximum flexibility for any setup.

The left side of the Wanbo X5 Pro looks similar to the right side, featuring a mesh grill. However, this side includes a Detachable Dust Box, which is one of the key upgrades that make the X5 Pro stand out. This feature helps keep the projector clean and improves its long-term performance.

The rear side of the Wanbo X5 Pro has a clean and functional design. On the left top corner, there is a power button with an LED indicator that lights up when the projector is turned on. Below it, there is an additional speaker, enhancing the audio experience. The rear mesh grill is designed for heat dissipation, allowing warm air to escape efficiently. The detachable dust box on the left side pulls in cool air, while the rear exhaust system pushes out hot air, ensuring better airflow and cooling.

The input ports are also located here, including one HDMI port, two USB ports, a 3.5mm AUX jack, and the power input, keeping all connections neatly arranged.

Detachable Dust Box

The Wanbo X5 Pro comes with a Detachable Dust Box, one of its key upgrades. It is easy to remove, and when taken out, you can see the blower fan inside the projector. The blower fan helps with cool air intake, keeping the projector cool for better performance. It runs quietly, ensuring a distraction-free viewing experience. With a noise level of ≤26dB/m, the X5 Pro lets you enjoy movies and shows in peace..

The dust box has a built-in filter that can be cleaned and put back in place. This helps keep dust away, making the projector last longer and work better with clear and bright visuals. With better dust protection, the X5 Pro needs less cleaning and maintenance.

Desktop Stand

The Desktop Stand is a small and stylish stand that takes very little space on a desk. Its ivory white colour looks clean and matches any setup. The stand is strong and stable because of its triangular support frame, which keeps the projector steady. The soft silicone mat at the bottom stops it from slipping and also protects the desk from scratches.

A great feature is the ±15° adjustable head, which lets you change the angle easily without using screws. Setting it up was simple—just match the 1/4-inch screw with the projector’s hole, tighten it, and it’s ready to use. It also works with most projectors, making it a useful stand.

PXL 20250225 060831856.PORTRAIT

I didn’t expect to find this stand in the box, so it was a nice surprise. It makes using the X5 Pro even better by keeping it steady and allowing quick angle adjustments. It’s a small but very useful addition.

Remote Control

The Wanbo X5 Pro remote is made of lightweight plastic and feels great to use. The buttons have a clicky sound, giving a satisfying feel with each press. It includes dedicated buttons for YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, allowing quick access to popular streaming apps. A built-in microphone lets you use voice commands, and in my experience, it picks up commands quickly and accurately.

Pairing via Bluetooth is simple. Just hold the “Home” and “Return” buttons together for 10 seconds, keeping the remote close to the projector. Once paired, you don’t need to point it directly at the projector. The Google Assistant button makes voice control even easier—just press it and speak, and the projector responds instantly. The projector features auto-focus, but there are also focus adjustment buttons on the remote for manual control. Additionally, the remote includes a dedicated projection picture settings button, giving quick access to picture alignment, zoom, and focus options for fine-tuning the display.

Picture Quality

The Wanbo X5 Pro offers a 1920×1080 FHD resolution with 4K decoding support, delivering sharp and clear visuals. With 1100 ANSI lumens brightness, it performs well in different lighting conditions. I tested it in a dark room, with curtains covering the windows but enough light coming through, and even with one of three room lights on the brightness remained strong.

PXL 20250301 143936542

I set up a 70-inch projection size, as that was the clear space available on my wall. I found the soft display to be easy on the eyes, thanks to its light diffuse reflection technology. This makes it a safer option for kids compared to a traditional TV. My son enjoyed watching his favourite cartoons for an hour without any eye strain. I’ve also started late-night movie sessions, catching up on movies I had been waiting to watch for a long time.

light diffuse reflection technology

For gaming, I used an RTX 3070 Ti build via HDMI, running games at 1080p with a smooth experience. I noticed that the projector and Google TV stick function as separate systems running together. Because of this, devices connected to Google TV may not carry over when switching to HDMI mode. For example, my controller worked perfectly on the projector’s Android system, but after switching to HDMI, I had to reconnect it. The same happened with my Bluetooth headphones. They worked fine on Google TV, but after switching to HDMI, they needed to be reconnected.

PXL 20250311 172831908.PORTRAIT

Though I enjoyed playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and GTA V Enhanced, the resolution for projector is limited to 1080p, as 4K encoding is only available for Google TV Stick.

Software & Performance

The Wanbo X5 Pro runs on Google TV, offering a smooth and user-friendly experience with access to thousands of apps like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. The interface is clean and responsive, making content navigation effortless. All Google TV settings and options are available, allowing full customisation, including display settings, audio preferences, and app management.

PXL 20250305 115358552

Performance of Wanbo X5 Pro is snappy, with apps loading and executing quickly. The projector is powered by a quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, ensuring stable performance for streaming, browsing, and light gaming. The Google TV stick runs on Android 11, a big upgrade from Android 9 in the previous X5, bringing better compatibility, improved optimisation, and a more refined user experience.

On the hardware side, the projector delivers 1100 ANSI lumens brightness, maintaining a clear and bright image in different lighting conditions. Auto-focus, auto keystone correction (ASA 3.0), and intelligent screen alignment make setup effortless, automatically adjusting the image for the best experience. Additionally the zoom function (50% to 100%) allows flexible screen adjustments without needing to move the projector.

Casting media or screen sharing is very easy and useful. As long as the projector and mobile device or pc are connected to the same WiFi network, you can cast content effortlessly. I tested mobile screen sharing, which worked smoothly, but you can also share a specific application instead of the entire screen.

20250311 223721 HDR

This makes it great for presentations—if you have a presentation file on your mobile, you can operate and present it directly on the projector with ease. Casting from Google Chrome is also very easy and fast. Whether you need to cast a tab from your browser or stream content directly, it works seamlessly. I even tested it with my own site, and it displayed perfectly on the big screen.

PXL 20250311 180123337.MP2

For 4K video streaming, I played the GTA VI trailer and clips from Interstellar movie or watching my favourite show on Netflix. The projector handled them impressively, delivering crisp and sharp visuals. Even though I don’t have a proper projector screen, I was totally impressed by the picture quality and performance. The details remained clear, and the colours looked vibrant, making it a fantastic experience for movies and high-quality video content.

During testing, the projector performed smoothly across different tasks. Apps launched quickly, navigation felt responsive, and streaming was seamless with no noticeable lag. Gaming performance was solid, especially when using an RTX 3070 Ti via HDMI. The projector handled extended use well, and its improved cooling system kept noise levels low.

The Wanbo X5 Pro has some of the best high-quality screensavers, which create a great vibe in the room. Whether it’s a calm scenic view or a dynamic visual, it adds a nice touch when the projector is idle. I really love this feature, as it makes the space feel more immersive and stylish even when I’m not actively using the projector.

Connectivity and sound

The Wanbo X5 Pro offers multiple connectivity options, making it easy to connect different devices. It includes HDMI, USB, AUX 3.5mm, Wi-Fi (2.4G/5G), and Bluetooth 5.0. Wireless connectivity is smooth, allowing fast pairing with controllers, headphones, and other Bluetooth devices. Screen casting and media sharing are also effortless, making it convenient to mirror content from a phone, tablet, or even cast a Chrome tab from a PC.

Sound quality is also impressive. The projector features dual 5W DSP HiFi speakers, delivering clear and balanced audio. The bass isn’t too deep, but dialogues and background music sound crisp. For an even better experience, Bluetooth speakers or headphones can be connected, though I mostly enjoyed the built-in speakers for casual watching. The fan noise is also very low (≤26dB), ensuring an immersive viewing experience without distractions.

Enos Tech Verdict

The Wanbo X5 Pro is a feature-packed smart projector that delivers excellent 1080p visuals with 1100 ANSI lumens brightness, making it ideal for home entertainment. I used it at 70 inches, and the clarity was impressive, even with curtains allowing natural light into the room. The light diffuse reflection technology reduces eye strain, which was great for my son while watching his favourite cartoons, and for me as I finally caught up on movies.

The auto-focus and ASA 3.0 keystone correction worked perfectly, keeping the screen aligned without manual adjustments. Obstacle avoidance ensured that if anything, like a plant or frame, was in the way, the image automatically adjusted. The Google TV system with Android 11 is smooth and fast, a big upgrade from Android 9 on the previous X5 model. Apps load quickly, and casting media from a phone or Google Chrome tab was incredibly easy, I even shared a presentation directly from my phone without issues.

Connectivity is excellent, with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI, USB, and AUX ports. I played games at 1080p using an RTX 3070 Ti via HDMI, and the experience was smooth. However, I noticed that since the Google TV stick and projector are separate systems, devices connected to Google TV, like a controller or Bluetooth headphones, don’t carry over to HDMI mode. This is something to keep in mind when switching between sources.

The dual 5W DSP speakers deliver clear and balanced audio, which is great for casual use, though an external speaker can enhance the experience further. The detachable dust box and enhanced ventilation system (now 70% more dust-resistant) make maintenance simple, ensuring a longer lifespan.

With its modern design, advanced features, and hassle-free setup, the Wanbo X5 Pro is a fantastic all-in-one projector. Whether for movies, gaming, or presentations, it offers great performance at an excellent value.
