Thrustmaster Introduces Sol-R 1 Flightstick and Sol-R 2 HOSAS Space Sim Duo

Thrustmaster is stepping into the space sim market with its new Sol-R 1 Flightstick and Sol-R 2 HOSAS Space Sim Duo, designed for both combat and exploration. With decades of experience in flight simulation, the company has long been a go-to for aviation enthusiasts, and its T.16000M joystick has been a staple for beginner space sim players. Now, Thrustmaster is taking things further with the Sol-R series, bringing dedicated controls for deep-space pilots.

The Sol-R 1 Flightstick packs 44 assignable actions into an ambidextrous design, making it a flexible choice for any setup. The grip alone features 21 buttons, including two triggers (one with dual-position functionality), two hat switches, a mini-stick, and a scroll wheel. That means essential functions like power distribution, shield management, and menu navigation are right at your fingertips.

For precision, the Sol-R 1 Flightstick uses Thrustmaster’s H.E.A.R.T. (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) magnetic sensors across its X, Y, and Z axes. With 16-bit accuracy and no mechanical friction, the joystick delivers smooth, precise movement that won’t degrade over time. The grip is also fully ambidextrous, with interchangeable ergonomic supports for comfort during long play sessions. Stability supports on the base keep it firmly in place, whether you’re making subtle adjustments or pulling off aggressive manoeuvres.

The design takes inspiration from classic sci-fi aesthetics, with a sleek grey, black, and orange colour scheme, plus 11 customisable RGB LED zones. The Sol-R base is compatible with Thrustmaster’s Viper and Hornet grips, as well as upcoming models, making it a flexible addition to any setup.

For advanced players, the Sol-R 2 HOSAS Space Sim Duo includes two flightsticks, giving full dual-stick control for complete immersion. Pricing starts at £159.99 / $219.99 / €179.99 for the Sol-R 1 Flightstick, while the Sol-R 2 HOSAS Space Sim Duo will cost £299.99 / $399.99 / €329.99. Pre-orders open on March 19, 2025, with the official launch set for April 16, 2025.
