Bethesda releases The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered as a surprise for fans
Bethesda has surprised everyone with the sudden release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This updated version brings back one of their most loved games, Oblivion, with better graphics, smoother gameplay, and improved sounds—while keeping the heart of the original game alive.
The remaster began in 2021. Bethesda said they didn’t want to change the game too much. Instead of a full remake, they chose to upgrade it while keeping the original feeling. It still plays like an older game, but looks and feels much better thanks to modern technology.
Bethesda worked closely with a studio called Virtuos, who helped make everything better—from artwork, animations, and lighting, to voice acting and game systems. Some new voice lines were recorded, but the old ones were kept too. The way players level up and grow their characters has also been made smoother and more balanced.
The company shared that they wanted both long-time fans and new players to enjoy the world of Cyrodiil again. They didn’t want to break the magic of the original game. Players will still start their journey by stepping out of the Imperial sewer, just like before—but this time, it will look more beautiful and feel fresh.
Bethesda thanked fans for their support over the years and said they are excited to see everyone’s adventures in this remastered version.
