Following on from our review of the APACER AS2280Q4X 2TB M.2 PCIE GEN SSD, today we are taking a look at their NOX 6000MHz Memory. The NOX memory comes in multiple capacities and frequencies and is backed by a 3-year warranty. It comes with a grey heatsink and not a single LED in sight! For those who aren’t a fan of RGB, this could be the memory you have been looking for.

The Cas Latency of 40 (CL40) is a bit high when compared to other kits but should still perform decent enough. Those who know a bit about timings may find that you can tighten them slightly in your BIOS. However, make sure you know what you’re doing before you start changing settings as you wouldn’t want to mess something else up.

Closer Look

The Apacer NOX DDR5 Memory features a grey alloy heatsink to help keep the RAM modules cool even under intense loads. It has a sort of paint splash design to it with the NOX branding right in the middle.

On one side there is a small sticker that has the part and serial numbers as well as the specs of the module itself. As we can see, the memory on test today is 16GB DDR5 6000MHz and is running a CAS Latency of 40-40-40-96.

The top of the heatsinks and branding free. While I am all for this, it is normally a great place to put the company logo as it will be seen in most builds. Kudos to Apacer for leaving it blank.

The NOX DDR5 comes with on-die ECC, (error correction) which will automatically fix data errors. It also has support for IntelR XMP 3.0 and according to Apacer, they have meticulously screened the DRAM ICs for maximum stability and compatibility with most major motherboards.

Test System and Methodology

For our testing, I have enabled the XMP profile for this memory in BIOS. I have forgone any overclocking as most end users will just enable XMP and will not overclock their memory.

Conclusion

It’s worth noting that this is the first kit of DDR5 I have tested on the ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite with Intel’s 13700KF CPU. As I do more testing soon, I will come back to this and update the results with graphs so the NOX memory can be compared with other kits.

The current MSRP for the NOX DDR5 6000MHz 32GB is $129.50. This price when compared to other similar kits from various manufacturers is a bit on the high side. Having a quick look on Amazon.com you can find kits with the same specs for $93-$110. Some kits may even feature RGB lighting or a lower Cas Latency which should offer better performance.

When it comes to the design, I can’t fault it at all. While it may not be for everyone, the more subtle design bodes well for the NOX memory. The heatsinks are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The lack of RGB is, in all honesty, a nice touch. The NOX memory has a more subtle look to it but it will still add a nice touch to the overall look of your PC.

Looking at the performance side of things and comparing our results to others, everything looks fine. The Apacer NOX DDR5 6000MHz RAM, while not the fastest out there, performs well, and when it comes to real-world performance, you really won’t notice much of a difference. If you are looking for a trustworthy kit of RAM that isn’t overly flashy and will just do its job, the NOX may be for you. The 3-year warranty may not be the best but it is more than sufficient in this case.
