Apple Vision Pro 2 components are now being mass produced in China

Apple’s Vision Pro headset came out in summer 2023, but it didn’t become very popular. One big reason was the very high price — it cost $3499. Because of that, many people who were interested in virtual or mixed reality could not afford it.

Now, about a year later, there are strong rumours that Apple is working on a new version of the Vision Pro, possibly called Vision Pro 2. According to a report from ITHome, several parts of the new headset are already being made in China.

The report says that many reliable sources have confirmed that Apple has started mass production of important parts for the second-generation headset. These include display panels, outer shells, and other key components. Lens Technology is said to be the only company making the glass panels for the new headset, while Changying Precision is making the body (or casing) of the device. Also, companies that make the internal circuits are working fast to complete their orders.

There is still some confusion about what kind of device this will be. Some experts think it will be a cheaper version of the Vision Pro to help more people afford it. Others believe it will be a full upgrade with a more powerful chip, possibly called the M5 SoC.

Previous reports suggested that Apple had reduced production of the original Vision Pro in October 2024 and may stop making it completely by the end of this year. That’s why people think the company is now focusing on its next version.

The new headset might launch sometime in 2025, but Apple has not officially announced anything yet.
