ASUS launches X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 motherboard in black and white colours

ASUS has launched a new motherboard called the X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7. It supports AMD’s AM5 socket and works with the latest DDR5 memory. This board is available in two colours—black and white. The white version is named X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 W and comes with a white PCB and white/silver heatsinks, giving it a clean and stylish look.

The X870 MAX Gaming is a budget motherboard that sits below the TUF Gaming X870 Plus and is not part of ASUS’s Prime series. It is made for gamers who want a powerful PC without spending too much money. ASUS is aiming to compete with similar boards from other companies like GIGABYTE Gaming X and MSI Gaming Plus.

This motherboard follows the standard ATX size and needs power through a 24-pin ATX and two 8-pin EPS connectors. It has a 12+2+1 phase power system using 80A power stages, which helps deliver stable power to the processor. This is useful when playing games or running demanding programs.

The AM5 socket is connected to four DDR5 memory slots, one PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics card slot, and one M.2 Gen 5 x4 NVMe SSD slot. There is a second M.2 slot that supports Gen 4 x4 SSDs, and a third one also with Gen 4 x4 speed but linked to the X870 chipset. The board also includes four SATA ports for adding hard drives or SSDs.

For extra cards, it has three more x16-sized slots—two of them work at Gen 4 x1 speed, and the other one at Gen 3 x1 speed. For display output, the board includes both HDMI and DisplayPort. The DisplayPort is connected through the two high-speed USB4 Type-C ports that support 40 Gbps speed.

There are many USB ports on this board, including one 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2, three 5 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 1, and four USB 2.0 ports. There is also a 20 Gbps USB-C header and a regular header that gives two extra 5 Gbps ports.

For network connectivity, the X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 offers both wired and wireless options. It comes with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, likely using a MediaTek chip, and it has a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port using a Realtek controller. The audio is handled by the basic Realtek ALC892 audio chip, which is good enough for regular use and casual gaming.

Asus X870 MAX Gaming WiFi7 Pricing

ASUS is expected to price this motherboard just above $200, making it one of the cheapest motherboards available with the X870 chipset. It gives gamers a good mix of features and performance without breaking the bank.
