Colorful shows off its new CVN X870 ARK FROZEN V14 motherboard with quick-release GPU switch
Colorful has listed its new CVN X870 ARK FROZEN V14 motherboard on its website. This is the first model in its new CVN series based on the AMD X870 chipset. It also brings a new and helpful feature—a graphics card quick-release switch. This switch is placed just below the memory slots and can be turned ON or OFF. Colorful says this design is really safe and makes it easy to remove the graphics card without using much force.
The CVN X870 ARK FROZEN V14 comes in a standard ATX size and has a white PCB with icy-looking heatsinks. It uses a 14+2+1 phase power supply with 80A DrMOS components, and it includes two 8-pin connectors to give strong power to the CPU. For memory, the motherboard supports DDR5 RAM. It has four memory slots that support up to 192 GB in total, and each slot can hold up to 48 GB. CVN X870 ARK FROZEN V14 also supports memory speeds up to 8000 MHz when overclocked.

For graphics, there is a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot directly connected to the CPU. This slot has a metal cover and works with the quick-release button. There is also a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and a PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. But the PCIe 4.0 x4 slot shares lanes with one of the M.2 slots, so you can only use one of them at a time.
In storage, there are two PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slots that are directly connected to the CPU. There is also one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot through the chipset, but it cannot be used if you are using the second PCIe slot. Along with these, there are four SATA ports for more storage options.
For internet, the motherboard has a Realtek RTL8126-CG chip that supports 5GbE wired connections. For wireless, it uses a MediaTek MT7925 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
For sound, the board uses a Realtek ALC1220 audio chip, which gives good quality audio. On the back panel, the motherboard includes an HDMI 2.0 port, a DisplayPort 1.2, several USB-A ports, a USB-C port that supports 40 Gbps speed and DisplayPort output, a 5GbE LAN port, connectors for Wi-Fi antennas, an S/PDIF out port, and five standard audio jacks.
Colorful CVN X870 ARK FROZEN: Availability
Colorful will start selling the CVN X870 ARK FROZEN V14 around mid-April, but the price is still not known.
