Finding a good pair is easier said than done these days. While there are plenty out there, sometimes it just seems as if there is too many to choose from. Edifier has long been known as a brand that offers good products across different price ranges and today, we are looking at their WH950NB headphones. These headphones come with many features and offer an amazing listening experience for the money.

We enjoyed the Edifier R1280DB Bookshelf speaker we reviewed previously and are hoping that the WH950NB headphones also offer us an enjoyable listening experience.

Closer Look

One thing I always like to see with wireless headphones is a carry case of some sort and Edifier has not let me down. I’m not a fan of just stuffing the headphones into my backpack and hoping for the best when I want to pull them out. A nice case can help make sure they don’t get damaged.

Opening the case we can see they are very well protected. On the left is a small pocket that houses all the cables and guides and on the right, we have the WH950NB headphones. There is even an extra bit of padding between the earcups so they don’t bang against each other and cause issues.

Getting everything out and there is a 3.5mm audio cable and the dual jack to with it. We also have the USB-A to USB-C charging cable as well as the manual and aftersales card. Edifier has done a good job of supplying the accessories most will need without going overboard.

The headphones come in either an Ivory color as we have here or a standard black. Both colors have a bit of an elegant look to them which will make them a great fit for both personal and professional settings.

When you first put on the Wh950NB headphones, you will hardly even notice you are wearing them. Of course, over time you will start to feel them but they are still comfortable even when being used for longer periods of time.

Even the headband has a bit of extra padded to make sure that when you are wearing these headphones they are as comfortable as possible.

The Edifier logo is quite stylish and I like it. Of course, companies always want to add their logos and branding to their products and this is fine, but it’s nice when it doesn’t obstruct the overall look of the product.

The buttons on the bottom of the earcups have a lot of different functions. Some of the functions sort of overlap each other so can seem like a bit too much at times, but once you get the hang of it they are useful.

While these are marketed as wireless and rightly so, it’s still nice to see the 3.5mm connection for those times when it is needed, or for use on devices that don’t have BlueTooth connectivity.

It may just be me, but one thing I like to see is the earcups properly labeled (L)eft and (R)ight. I know there are other ways to tell but I just like to look before I put them on so kudos to Edifier for actually making it so you can see the labels inside the earcups.

Performance and Quality

Performance may be a bit of a subjective topic, but overall, most generally can agree on when something sounds good or not. The WH950NB headphones offer a nice listening experience and some impressive noise-cancelling. The noise-canceling features even have a couple of different modes, depending on what you are doing. You can choose between ambient sound or wind reduction in different scenarios so you can make the most of the ANC feature.

Not only do they sound good, but thanks to the four microphones, you sound good as well when you use them to answer a call. Even when using them outside in fairly windy conditions, your voice will come through quite clearly and the person on the other end of the call will have no issue hearing you.

Probably one of the most useful features however is the fact you can connect them to two devices simultaneously. Yes, you can connect the WH950NB to your laptop to watch a movie and also have it connected to your phone so you can answer calls at the same time. This is all thanks to their Bluetooth 5.3 support which is a great additional feature to have.

Final Thoughts

If it’s not obvious at this point of the review, I thoroughly enjoyed my time testing out Edifier’s WH950NB wireless noise-cancellation headphones. They are comfortable, have a great battery life, and have plenty of features so you can make the most of them in almost any environment. Being able to easily switch between music/game/theatre modes is a nice touch as well. Again, just make sure you are getting the most from them no matter what you are doing.

For those who are worried they may be a bit too loud at times, you can enable safe listening. Simply open the Edifier Connect App on your phone and enable Safe Volume which will make sure that your volume is limited to 85dB. You can also use the shutdown timer to make sure they turn off after a certain amount of time.

For the price, you are getting a decent pair of headphones. While no single feature may jump out and have you thinking it is the best, when all of the features are combined it is hard to ignore. The extensive feature set makes this a great pair of headphones for those who want high-quality audio on the go but don’t quite need audiophile-quality gear.

All in all, I have no issue recommending these at their current price and if you can find them on a deal, it will only further add to the value that the WH950 headphones have to offer.
