G.Skill is keeping up with the current memory speed trends and is introducing its newest DDR5-9000 Memory kit. G.Skill has managed to obtain this speed using an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G processor on an ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E motherboard using the AMD EXPO overclock profile.
G.Skill managed this on a 24GBx2 kit in conjunction with the ASUS NitroPath DRAM technology. This need technology provides enhanced overclock performance and allows G.SKILLs kit of memory to hit DDR5-9000 CL44-56-56 on both 24GB modules. This is quite impressive as generally, AMD hasn’t been known for helping to push the limits of RAM speed.
Hopefully, this is the start of us seeing better memory controllers on AMD CPUs. Currently, the 9000 series of processors are only rated to be compatible with up to DDR5-5600 memory kits. Of course, we know they can do better than that, but it would be nice to start seeing some higher speeds as standard and not just technically as overclocked modules.
Only time will tell. We are currently waiting for the new X3D chips from the 9000 series to drop and if rumors are true, the first one may be dropping quite soon here. This also leads the way for AMD to hopefully make some exciting announcements at CES coming up in January.
For now, we can take everything with a pinch of salt, but one thing is for sure and that is things are definitely starting to look up!
