An exciting leak from hardware insider momomo_us has revealed details about a new ASRock Z890 motherboard, which will support Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200 processors (codenamed Arrow Lake). The most surprising feature of this motherboard is its ability to handle overclocked DDR5 RAM speeds up to DDR5-9200. This is significantly faster than current high-end RAM, making it a big leap in performance.
The motherboard is based on Intel’s high-end Z890 chipset and is likely part of ASRock’s premium Taichi series. While we don’t know the exact model or all the details, we do know that it will have four memory slots and support DDR5-5600 as standard when using one memory stick per channel. If you use two sticks per channel, the speed will be limited to DDR5-4800 or DDR5-4400, depending on the type of memory module used.
When overclocking, the ASRock Z890 motherboard can push memory speeds up to DDR5-9200 if only one memory stick per channel is used. For other configurations, such as using more memory sticks, the speeds will be lower but still impressive, with DDR5-6800 and DDR5-5800 being supported in certain setups.
Compared to the previous generation Z790 Taichi, which supported speeds up to DDR5-7200, this new Z890 motherboard’s ability to handle DDR5-9200 shows a huge improvement. It also hints that Arrow Lake processors may have a better integrated memory controller, allowing them to manage these faster memory speeds more easily.
Other standard features of this motherboard will likely include Intel XMP for easy memory overclocking, as well as Turbo Boost and Adaptive Boost Technology for improved performance. However, we’ll have to wait for more information on the final price and additional features.
For tech enthusiasts looking to upgrade to Intel’s latest platform, this ASRock Z890 motherboard could be a solid choice, especially for those interested in pushing their system’s memory performance to the limit.
