Logitech has introduced its new G915 X series low-profile gaming mechanical keyboard lineup. This release includes three different versions to meet the needs of gamers: a standard wired keyboard, a wireless full-size keyboard, and a wireless TKL (Tenkeyless) version, which is smaller without the number pad.
Design and Build
All versions of the G915 X series keyboard are designed to be slim and sleek, measuring just 23mm in height. They come with an aluminum alloy top plate, making them sturdy and durable. The keyboard also features two-color injection molded PBT keycaps, known for their strength and durability. Additionally, the keyboard has 4 dedicated media keys for easy access and a cast iron volume wheel for precise volume control.
Switches and Typing Experience
Logitech has equipped these keyboards with GL mechanical low-profile switches, offering fast response and smooth key presses. The switches have a short 1.3mm key travel distance, which is ideal for quick actions during gaming.
The G915 X wired full-size version comes with two switch options:
- Linear Red: Requires a 43gf trigger force for smooth and quiet key presses.
- Tactile Brown: Requires a 45gf trigger force, giving a gentle bump when pressed, perfect for users who want some feedback without a loud click.
For the wireless full-size and wireless TKL versions, there is an additional switch option:
- Clicky Green: Requires a 48gf trigger force, giving a loud and clicky feel, suitable for those who enjoy the sound and feel of mechanical keyboards.
Versions and Features
The wired full-size version has a sandblasted top plate and is available only in black. Meanwhile, the wireless full-size and TKL versions have brushed top panels and are available in both black and white.
Both wireless versions come with Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED technology, which allows for fast and reliable wireless performance. They also offer three modes for connectivity: LIGHTSPEED Wireless, Bluetooth, and Wired. The wireless models come with impressive battery life:
- Full-size version: Up to 1000 hours (when RGB is off), 100 hours at 50% brightness, and 42 hours at full brightness.
- TKL version: Up to 800 hours (RGB off), 90 hours at 50% brightness, and 38 hours at full brightness.
The full-size wireless versions of the G915 X also include 9 programmable G keys for custom functions, located on the left side and above the F1-F4 keys. However, the TKL version does not have these G keys, keeping it more compact.
Final Thoughts
Logitech’s G915 X series offers a great balance of design, performance, and customization options, making it suitable for both casual and competitive gamers. Whether you prefer a wired or wireless setup, the variety of switch types and battery life options make this keyboard a versatile choice for different gaming needs.
