MediaTek launches new Dimensity 9400+ chip with better AI and gaming performance
MediaTek has launched its latest high-end mobile chip, the Dimensity 9400+. This new chip is built for flagship Android smartphones and brings big improvements in AI, gaming, and overall performance. It also uses less power, making it more efficient for everyday use.
The Dimensity 9400+ has a strong setup called an “All Big Core” design. It includes one powerful Arm Cortex-X925 core running at 3.73 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. This mix helps boost both single-task and multi-task performance, so phones can run faster and smoother, even with heavy use.
One of the biggest highlights is its improved AI power. The chip supports advanced AI models, including large language models (LLMs), which are used for chatbots and other smart tools. This means that AI tasks can run directly on the phone instead of sending data to the cloud, helping keep user information more private and secure.
JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, said the Dimensity 9400+ will help phone makers create more intelligent and personal AI features. He also shared that MediaTek is working with app developers and hardware companies to build more useful AI tools that can run on this new chip.
The chip also has a new graphics processor, the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which brings PC-level graphics to mobile games. It supports a feature called Opacity Micromap (OMM), which makes things like trees, hair, and feathers look more real in games without slowing the phone down. It also includes MFRC 2.0+, a tool that works with games to double the frame rate while cutting power use by up to 40%.
For camera lovers, the chip supports the MediaTek Imagiq 1090 system. It allows HDR video recording at all zoom levels and has Smooth Zoom technology, which makes it easier to record moving objects clearly. It also lets users pick the image and sound they want in each part of a video.
The Dimensity 9400+ also brings other helpful features. It expands Bluetooth range up to 10 km, which is more than six times longer than before. It also supports BeiDou satellite systems for location tracking, making it 33% faster to find your location even without mobile signals. The chip supports Wi-Fi 7 with three bands and five data streams, offering faster internet and more stable connections. With MediaTek’s Xtra Range tech, users also get Wi-Fi coverage up to 30 metres further. And with 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active support, users can enjoy more flexibility by using two SIM cards with data and calls at the same time.
