NVIDIA has announced new tools that bring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features to personal computers. These tools, called NVIDIA NIM microservices, are designed to work with the latest GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards. These graphics cards are incredibly powerful, performing up to 3,352 trillion AI operations per second and featuring 32 GB of memory. They use a new technology called FP4 compute, which makes AI tasks run twice as fast as before and allows advanced AI programs to run directly on PCs instead of requiring large data centres.

The NIM microservices make it easy for users and developers to access and use AI tools on their PCs. These tools can handle tasks like generating images, converting PDFs into audio, running large language models, and enhancing video calls. They are simple to set up and work seamlessly with Windows 11, using the Windows Subsystem for Linux. NVIDIA is also offering AI Blueprints, which are pre-built workflows to help users accomplish specific tasks. For example, one blueprint can turn the text, images, and tables in a PDF into a podcast, complete with an audio recording. Another blueprint lets artists create high-quality images guided by simple 3D models.

NVIDIA has also introduced a digital assistant called Project R2X, which can read and summarise documents, assist with desktop apps, and even help during video calls. The assistant looks and moves like a real person thanks to new AI technology that improves animations and lip-syncing. This assistant can connect to popular AI platforms and tools, making it a powerful companion for many tasks.
