NVIDIA is celebrating 20 years since the launch of the iconic game Half-Life 2. To honor this milestone, NVIDIA has shared exciting news, including a special video and a contest. Fans can also look forward to a new version of Half-Life 2 with updated graphics, made possible by modern technology.
A Tribute to Half-Life 2
November 16th marked 20 years since Half-Life 2 first released. To celebrate, NVIDIA released a video that looks back at the game’s history. The video also gives fans a first look at the upcoming Half-Life 2 RTX remaster.
This new version of the game is being developed by Orbifold Studios, a team of passionate Half-Life fans. They are known for their work on other Half-Life projects, such as Half-Life 2: VR and Rising the Bar: Redux. The remaster will use advanced tools to add features like realistic lighting (ray tracing), smoother gameplay (DLSS 3), and faster responses for players (Reflex).
Special Edition Graphics Card
As part of the celebration, NVIDIA has started a contest called the Half-Life 2 Anniversary Sweepstakes. The prize is a custom-designed graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, wrapped with art inspired by Half-Life 2.
