Retroid Pocket Flip 2 Announced With More Powerful Chip and OLED Screen
The makers of the Retroid Pocket Flip have now revealed its successor, the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. This new version handheld brings major improvements, making it much faster and more powerful than the first one. While the company has not yet shared the price, the new features suggest that it might cost more than the original, which was priced around $160.
Faster Processor and More Memory
One of the biggest changes in the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is its faster processor. Instead of the Unisoc T618 found in the first Flip, the new model offers two options:
- Snapdragon 865 (Adreno 650 GPU)
- Dimensity 1100 (Mali G77 GPU)
Both chips are much stronger than the old one, making the device better at running games and apps. The Dimensity 1100 version is expected to have slightly better graphics performance than the Snapdragon 865 version.
Another upgrade is the memory. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 now has 8 GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the previous model. This means the device can handle multiple tasks more smoothly.
New OLED Display
The screen is also much better than before. The Flip 2 now has a 5.5-inch OLED display with 1080p resolution. The screen is brighter too, with a peak brightness of 500 nits, making it easier to see even in bright light.
Other Important Changes
- USB-C with DisplayPort Support – The microHDMI port is gone, but now you can connect the device to an external display using the USB-C port.
- Same Battery, Different Charging Speeds – The battery is still 5,000 mAh, but charging speed depends on the model:
- Snapdragon 865 version supports 27W fast charging.
- Dimensity 1100 version supports 18W charging.
- Better Wireless Features – The Flip 2 now comes with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, which means faster internet and better Bluetooth connections.
- Upgraded Storage – The new model now uses UFS 3.1 storage, which is much faster than the previous version.
- MicroSD Slot and Audio Jack Stay – The Flip 2 still has a microSD card slot for extra storage and a headphone jack for wired audio.
Retroid Pocket Flip 2: Pricing and Availability
The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is a big improvement over the first model. With a better processor, more memory, an upgraded screen, and faster storage, it should be able to handle modern gaming and emulation much better. While we don’t know the exact price yet, these new features suggest it could be more expensive than the original. Fans will have to wait for the official release date and pricing details.
