Rockstar Games’ New GTA V Upgrade on PC: Not Worth the Hype
Rockstar Games has launched a free upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V on PC. This upgrade, which was previously only available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, brings better graphics, faster performance, and new features. Players who already own GTA V on PC can upgrade for free, while new buyers will receive both the Enhanced and Legacy versions of the game.
New Features in GTA Online
The update adds powerful new cars, better customisation, and new activities. Players can now visit Hao’s Special Works (HSW) to modify their vehicles with high-performance upgrades. Some of the newly added cars include:
- Pegassi Weaponized Ignus
- Coil Cyclone II
- Karin S95
- Imponte Arbiter GT
- Pfister Astron Custom
Additionally, GTA+ Members can claim a Principe Deveste Eight for free until May 28.
Another big change is the wildlife system. Players will now see more animals in GTA Online, and they can take part in a Wildlife Photography Challenge from the LS Tourist Board.
The Career Builder is also improved, giving new players GTA$4,000,000 to start their criminal career in GTA Online. A Career Progress feature is also introduced, helping players track their progress and unlock rewards.
The update also brings a new business opportunity in GTA Online. In the Oscar Guzman Flies Again update, players can run an arms trafficking business at McKenzie Field Hangar in Grapeseed, with new missions and aircraft.
GTA V Technical Upgrades
The new Enhanced version of GTA V on PC brings improved graphics and faster loading times. Some of the biggest upgrades include:
- Ray tracing (better lighting, shadows, and reflections)
- Support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS (to improve performance)
- DualSense controller support (with adaptive triggers for PS5 controllers)
- Faster loading times with DirectStorage
- Support for higher resolutions and frame rates
- Improved sound quality with Dolby Atmos
The older version of GTA V, now called GTAV Legacy, will still be available for players with lower-end PCs. However, players using Legacy and Enhanced versions cannot play together.
Anti-Cheat and Player Safety
Rockstar has also improved security in GTA Online. The upgrade includes kernel-based anti-cheat protection to stop cheaters and better voice chat moderation to prevent toxic behaviour.
With these new updates, GTA V on PC is now better than ever, offering a smoother and more exciting experience for both new and returning players.
